Ginny Hunt Demonstrates a Skill, 1963-1964

Ginny_Hunt_Demonstrates_a_Skill_19631964.jpg

The image above is of Coach Ginny Hunt and another woman who appeared to be demonstrating a skill. Both were using long-toed English field hockey sticks. Hunt, on the left, had hers in a reverse stick position. Peggy Osborn and Nancy Riddle stand looking on. Osborn is dressed as a goalkeeper with cricket pads, and Riddle does not appear to have a stick. This photo was part of a collage under the caption "Girls let off steam" , in a variety of activities sponsored by WRA. WRA did sponsor a club field hockey team at this time, the precursors of the first varsity team in 1965, coached by Virginia Hunt.
The women were wearing shorts, shirts, and bobby socks. One was dressed as in goalie gear at that time- cricket pads. She also has on a shirt with a strip of McLeod plaid, which were worn by some of the club teams. The administrative head at the time was Maria Sexton.
