This is the cover page for Women's Athletics, 1917-1918. Drawing of three women in the background: one with a ball (football, rugby or basketball), one with hockey stick or golf club, and one with a tennis racquet. All were dressed in sailor tops, two had scarfs, and all had skirts. The image of the women here was very much as the New Athletic Girl of this age were vibrant, and more free in dress and activities they enjoy. Their hair styles were shorter and reflect the times as well. The women were dressed for the roaring twenties. Sailor tops, scarfs, loose skirts to just below the knee. Their hair was up hat on one, possibly a band around the other. The administrative head at the time was Ruth Hunt Conrow.
