The picture depicts the women's field hockey team of the academic year of 1981-82. Under the leadership of second-year coach Terri Prodoehl, the varsity team received the number one seed in the Association for Intercollegiate Athletics for Women’s National Tournament at Sweet Briar College in Virginia. They finished third in the nation in Division III institutions. The Scot stickers lost to Denison in the state finals but went to regionals with a strong 15-4 record. They defeated Principia, Calvin, and the University of Wisconsin-Lacrosse to take the Midwest regional title and earn a berth to nationals. They shattered the old season record (67) with 109 goals. Cindy Runnette accounted for 53 of these goals. The team then set a new record for consecutive wins with 10. 32 players and 2 coaches shown in the photo. This team finished higher than any other field hockey team in program history. They placed third at the last AIAW National Tournament ever held, beating Suny-Brockport for the spot 2-1. This was only the third Division III National Tournament. The uniform for the girls contained a plaid kilt, blouse, long socks, shin guards and soccer cleats. The administrative head at the time was Nan Nichols.
