The image above shows, the Women's Athletics Association, of the academic year 1988 - 1989. The purpose of the Women’s Athletic Association (W.A.A.) was to support all women athletes on campus. W.A.A. had their support to include the intramural sports program and the aerobics offered to the campus. WAA also ran the concession stand during basketball games. The money raised went to campus events for women’s athletes. WAA offered support to spring training for women's varsity teams. A banquet in the spring was held in honor of all women athletes. The women in the picture were, identified from left to right, Shade Whitesel, Dot Verbrugge, Mary Ronstadt, Julie Anderson, Stephanie Scierka, Jane Major, Stephanie Porter, Jessica Skolnikoff, Estelle Peraia, Aimee Zedlitz. There may be several names misspelled in this photo. This was the first appearance of WAA in the organization section in many years, although it had been functioning. The women were wearing street clothes including sweatshirts, shorts, and sweats. The administrative head at the time was Nan Nichols..
