Proposed Cabin at Funk's Hollow, 1929-1930

Proposed_Cabin_at_Funks_Hollow_19291930.jpg

"Through the combined efforts of the Athletic Department of the College and the Trustees, the Women's Department has been offered the use of a beautiful spot of ground five miles from the city limits, called Funk's Hollow. Girls are raising money by benefit bridge parties, dances, and candy sales, in order to build a log cabin on that site. Plans are developing and by next year the building is expected to be completed. It will afford an excellent place for picnics and overnight hikes, as well as a weekend retreat for those who care to get away from the city."

This is a drawing of the Proposed Cabin. It appears to be very rudimentary with a window, a door central, and a bear skin hung on the outside. Two photos on the page below this drawing are labeled: Scenes from Funk's Hollow. One of the images appeared to be a stream and the other of woods. The administrative head at the time was Kathleen Lowrie.
