Ruth Conrow, Junior Class Photo 1918-19

p15963coll21_889.jpg

This photo is of three women at the top of a page in the junior class section for the Index. The middle photo is of Ruth Conrow. A caption reads: "Ruth Hunt Conrow. Scientific. Riverton, N.J. Although she sits in the faculty gallery and not with us common mortals, Miss Conrow is, nevertheless, one of us and a good comrade. She is responsible for the Women's Executive Committee of the Joint Athletic Board of the Athletic Association of the College of Wooster. There are also many other things that she had done, the which, if they should be written everyone, we suppose that even the Index could not contain them." "There is a young teacher of gym, Who is a great preacher of gym; She makes us breath in, Then she makes us breath out; There is no one can reach her in gym." [Ruth Conrow appeared to be taking classes at Wooster to complete a bachelor's degree at that time. She was not listed with any degrees in the faculty/staff section of the Index. She was listed as Instructor of Physical Education for Women.] Two women on either side of Conrow are shown in sailor tops with short hairstyles. Conrow is pictured in a dress or blouse. The administrative head at the time was Ruth Hunt Conrow.
