Class Managers, 1928-1929

Class_Managers_19281929.jpg

Class Managers were the necessary instruments in arranging games, getting the teams out to practice, keeping the points for the team, and deciding with the aid of the coaches who shall participate in contests. There were Class Managers for Hockey, Basketball, Tennis, Volleyball, Track, Swimming, Archery, and Hiking. (Eight Sports). In the past year, the managers of the Hockey Team faithfully got their teams organized for the fall tournament, but unfavorable weather conditions prevented playing off the tournament games. The Swimming Managers arranged the annual Girls' Inter-class swimming meet, which is an athletic event awaited for each spring by all members of the association. The Hiking Managers were responsible the entire year, and hikes under their leadership can be seen in all weathers and at all hours. The remainder of the managers found their special duties in the various seasons. The photos above is of three sets of managers: Hiking, Basketball and Volley Ball. Basketball and Volleyball were not really discussed in the section above. This is a good presentation of how class managers function to run the different sports and activities. Note that there are eight sports listed now instead of just six. Managers were dressed in street clothes, as opposed to the uniforms. The administrative head at the time was Kathleen Lowrie
