Playing for the first year as a varsity sport, the women's tennis team had an excellent season with a record of 6-1-1 and a tie for sixth place in the Ohio Intercollegiate Women's Tennis Tournament. The team, coached by Dr. Maria Sexton, lost only to Denison in the second match of the year. The team consisted of junior Becky McNeese, first singles, freshman Judy Donaldson, second singles, senior Peggy Brooks, third singles, junior Ann Singleton and freshman Pat Vittum, first doubles and freshman Liz Pease and Diana Wescott, second doubles. The tennis players were wearing V-neck sweaters with stripes trimming the V, with a white shirt underneath. They were wearing matching white tennis skirts with stripes that match the sweater stripes. Some were wearing white socks and they were all wearing tennis shoes. The administrative head at the time was Virginia Hunt.
