The picture is of the Women's Physical Education Department in 1951-52. Miss Mary Buccalo, Miss Kathleen Lowrie, Miss Margaret Buck, Miss Geraldine Toops. This later became Kathleen Lowrie's last year at Wooster, having begun her career in 1921. Mary J. Buccalo would be the acting chair in 1952-53 until Maria Sexton took over as Chair in 1953. “Out of the seven cardinal objectives for good teaching, good health leads the other six. The staff of the women's p.e. dept satisfactorily attains this goal. All phases of women's sports for a vocation or an avocation can be found in this department.” The women were seen wearing dress suits, sweaters, and skirts. The administrative head at the time was Kathleen Lowrie.
