This photo features, "Two Wooster runners on the course." Cross Country runner Patty Smanik leads teammate Cathy Lovell. "A rebuilding year with the loss of four of our seven runners, but all was not lost. Freshman Patty Smanik (Berea, Ohio) was one very bright spot for the Scotties. She ran #1 for the team, winning the Wooster Invitational and qualifying for the NCAA Great Lakes Regional. Patty finished 3rd and missed a trip to the Nationals by one position. Sophomore Becky Pickett (North Canton, Ohio) was a very steady performer in the #2 position for the Lady Scotties. She also qualified for the NCAA Regional meet. The rest of the squad consisted of three freshmen – Katie Keller (Portland, Ind), Julie Hamilton (Lakewood, Ohio), Sue Watson (Meadville, PA) and two juniors- Cathy Lovell (Meadville, PA) and Jean Danowski (Erie, PA). The future looks very positive for the Scotties.” –Craig Penney. The uniform included shorts and a singlet. The administrative head at the time was Nan Nichols.
