This is a photo of the first varsity field hockey team in the fall of 1965, with Coach Ginny Hunt on the far right in the back row. The players were wearing tunics with long sleeve shirts and plaid cloth belts. The caption lists the names of all of the players. The photo was in the section for the Women's Recreation Association, which had sponsored these sports in the past as club programs. The men's athletics section was in a different part of the yearbook. This was the second women's sport to go varsity, with basketball being the first in the winter of 1965- the academic year before. There was no photo of the first varsity basketball team in the 1965 Index. The administrative head at the time was Virginia Hunt.
